angel andrea

I'm sad to learn that Andrea Roca earned her angel wings yesterday morning, Sunday November 22, 2009 at 1047. I met Andrea through Moment by Moment, a photography group dedicated to photographing children with life limiting illnesses, which put me in contact with Andrea and her family. Unfortunatly, pleuroplumonary blastoma proved too strong for Andrea, but she didn't give up without a fight.

Andrea's family is asking that in lieu of flowers, that you make a donation in memory of Andrea to one or more of the following: Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Ronald McDonald House, or to the Andrea Roca Memoria account at the San Diego Zoo. (By mail: San Diego Zoo; PO Box 120551; San Diego, CA 92101, or by credit card: Lacey Render (619) 685-3218 ) If people contribute enough they will place a plaque in honor of Andrea Roca at the Wild Anima Park. Andrea's favorite.

Please see the earlier post and images of Andrea Roca.

beautiful saturday

Yesterday I got to go out sailing with some of my friends. Peter brought along his son, Aiden, who is a great kid and full of energy. I had to turn my attention away from photographing the boat and onto him. You can tell he spent the day with his father by the messy face.

the journey nears it's end

I volunteer for and organization called Moment By Moment, which is a colaberation of photographers who capture images of children with life limiting illnesses.

I met Andrea Roca for the fist time back in October. She was full of smiles and life, and a real joy to photograph. Parents, Nancy and Alberto were feeling so good that Andrea's rare lung cancer seemed to be improving, maybe even enough for surgery. Unfortunately Andrea's tiny body can't fight back anymore. Please pray for Andrea and her family.
